The Value of Coaching in a Changing World

Although we may be some way away from a meaningful return to the workplace, the Prime Minister’s Sunday evening update has started to bring a sharper focus to how events will unfold over the coming weeks and what the new world will mean for leaders and coaching beyond Coronavirus.

Coaching Beyond Coronavirus
Coaching Beyond Coronavirus

As we move forward and restrictions enable us to properly re-engage, clients will bring a multitude of personal and organisational dilemmas to the table, which may include;

• Pressure – internal and external

• Decision making

• Leading through uncertainty and fear

While these dilemmas may be brought forward, here at The Leadership Coaches (TLC), we will be able to support leaders to identify how to make progress and achieve success in what is likely to be the most ambiguous operating environment any of us have ever experienced.

As always, as coaches we will respond to the needs of the people we work with and help them progress whatever issues they bring to the coaching process.

Most recently, I attended the virtually-delivered conference of the International Coaching Federation - UK Chapter, “The New Reality”. The conference provided some thought-provoking insights into what may become common themes in the coming period and what coaching beyond Coronavirus may look like. The inference I drew from the various presentations (and the subsequent dialogue), is that leaders from all sectors of the economy will shortly be confronted by a dynamic and hugely demanding range of pressing individual and organisational dilemmas. These will be a result of old operational paradigms falling away, and the necessity of new ways of working coming rapidly into view. This is going to be a long way from business as usual!

It’s entirely understandable if leaders preparing to re-enter the workplace have doubts and concerns. It’s highly likely in fact that most will be reflecting on their ability to lead effectively in the changing world we find ourselves in. Similarly, many will be considering how their organisation can collectively respond and succeed as we look to recover from the Covid19 pandemic.

The scale of the challenge many leaders will be facing is going to be immense and to expect everyone to step up and deliver with excellence from the outset seems unrealistic. At The Leadership Coaches, we know that leaders benefit hugely from working with our credible and personable coaches and we anticipate a peak in demand over the coming months. In essence, a skilled coach is on hand to help their client to develop their thinking, sharpen and focus their leadership and provide an appropriate level of support and challenge to help them succeed now and in the future.

At The Leadership Coaches, we are ready to respond to the challenge and are looking forward to coaching beyond Coronavirus. We are also excited to work with our clients to help them meet the new reality with confidence. We are committed and passionate about supporting leaders as they take on their own change agenda and emerging revised priorities. Above all, we want to see the people we work with delivering personal and organisational success. Regardless of the issue that our clients bring forward, our intent is always to ensure that individuals become more resourceful and resilient going forward; we believe this will be a key factor as the recovery unfolds.

We would love to support you and your Leadership team colleagues on the journey ahead of us; although perhaps daunting at present we feel there are real opportunities for leaders with a clear vision and appetite to lead boldly in a rapidly changing environment.
