Prior to starting my coaching business in 2012, I worked for the Ministry of Justice (within HMCTS) as a senior leader with responsibility for a group of magistrates’ courts and was a member of the Local Criminal Justice Board for 4 London Boroughs. 

 

Coaching was always an add on to my role as a leader and something I enjoyed. Having completed internal coaching training over the years and wanting to have a deeper understanding of the psychology that underpins coaching, on leaving employment I completed a MSc Coaching Psychology. 

 

Modules studied were evidence-based coaching, career coaching, leadership coaching (including executive coaching), and psychology of the self and others, as well as quantitative and qualitative research methods.

 

My coaching style is client centred and non-directive. I use solution focused, evidence-based approaches. I challenge my clients to stretch their thinking and view situations from different perspectives in order to increase their self-awareness and identify solutions. 

 

I have a saying that goes ‘Before you can lead others you have to be able to lead yourself’ and believe that self-leadership is essential for leaders of all levels. As such I coach leaders to do the necessary inner work on themselves in order to better deal with the external. I love to see the transformation this has for the leader, their environment, their organisations and those they lead.

 

Dependent on the situation or issue presented will determine which model or approach I use. The main ones tend to be behavioural change, cognitive behavioural, emotional intelligence and strengths.

 

I have been named a LinkedIn Top Voice UK for 3 years running (2017, 2018 and 2019), a WeAreTheCity Rising Star Champion for my work supporting women to succeed as leaders, and named one of Britain’s Top 50 Business Advisers by Enterprise Nation in 2015.

Prior to the coaching, I was at a very low ebb having been quite badly bullied and having a low resilience level. I also had significant relationship issues with my manager. What I liked was your approach to listening, playing back, challenging my perceptions (which were not actually reality) and providing tools and options for me to consider using as I move forward.

Your coaching style allowed for a relaxed environment and created the opportunity for me to lead on finding the solutions to dealing with my obstacles. It brought me back to focusing on my core values and became the catalyst for reframing of my thoughts and feelings in such a way that I have become a lot more positive about my direction. I have a strong sense of discipline, and therefore trust my assurance to self that I will maintain the progress achieved over the course of the coaching sessions.

Prior to coaching I was very anxious about my work life and being unable to cope with the prospect of not achieving success in my role. Working with you I got the opportunity to take control, release unhelpful thoughts, and create meaningful awareness of times of anxiety and how to recognise and address the situation. I was impressed by the methodology you used – asking probing questions to illicit responses, thoughts and new ways of seeing things. My confidence has been restored!
